Sheridan (OR) Sun Sold The Sun, a weekly newspaper serving Sheridan, Oregon, has sold to Clinton Vining, it was announced today. JP Media Partners, a newspaper merger-and-acquisition intermediary, managed the transaction. Mr. Vining has been editor and general manager of the Estacada News for the past five years. “I am looking forward to working at The Sun and serving the local communities,” Vining said. “I was raised in a small town in Washington state and enjoy the quality of life available in such communities.” The Sun’s longtime owner, George Robertson, plans to work as a freelance writer and travel. He has edited the paper for more than 30 years. During his tenure at The Sun, the newspaper won many awards from the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association for photography and news coverage. It also received an award from the Oregon Education Association for a series of articles on school financing. Mr. Robertson took over as editor and publisher of the Sun in 1978 when the newspaper was purchased by Eagle Newspapers. He bought the newspaper from Eagle in 1981.
